A loan of $180 helped to expand a general store.
Fareeda is a 55 year old owner of a local general store in Lahore. Despite having been widowed and left with three school-going dependents to take care of by herself, she refuses to be defined by her widowed status, and has singlehandedly managed the affairs of her store for nearly ten years. Although the profits from her store are not her sole source of income, - remittances from her sons situated in Saudi Arabia, and the earnings of her son-in-law who drives a rickshaw in Lahore both help the family to get by - the store occupies most of her time and effort, and is the most immediate and regular source of income for her family. However, Fareeda is not about to give up on her business. She requires a generous donation that could enable her to manage her store in a more efficient manner and work toward expanding its operations. A crowdfunding campaign could just be the social investment her business needs to reap more profits.
It will enable an aging widow to continue managing her business and aim toward expansion of operations, all the while helping her to take better care of her family that depends on her.
